Sandbags and sand are free to City of El Cajon residents only (proof of residency required). Limit of 10 bags with sand per residence (while supplies last). You are responsible for filling your own bags.

Available Monday through Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and alternate Fridays from  6:00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. For more information call (619) 441-1658.

City of La Mesa

Prior to an anticipated rain event, on a first come-first serve basis, Public Works will have empty sandbags and sand available for residents of the incorporated area of the City of La Mesa with valid La Mesa ID. If you are unsure if you live in the incorporated or unincorporated area of La Mesa, please call first and Public Works staff will verify your address. Limit of 10 bags with sand per residence, while supplies last. The sandbags are available at the Public Works Yard in the front office during normal business hours. Once a resident retrieves the bags, sand is available for self-service in the shed west of the fuel pumps outside the fence. Shovels may be available, but please plan to bring your own.
