El Cajon……At approximately 1:20 p.m. Monday afternoon, Heartland Fire & Rescue units from El Cajon, with assistance from San Miguel Fire and Lakeside Fire, were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 1300 block of Marline Avenue in El Cajon. Initial reports were of a house with flames coming from the back. Fire crews arrived within 4 minutes to report a single story, single family dwelling with fire to the rear of the structure.
Firefighters discovered a rear enclosed patio enclosure on fire with some extension into the main part of the house. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire and were able to contain it within 5 minutes, with no damage to any of the surrounding structures. All occupants of the house safely evacuated prior to fire department arrival. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $75,000.
